Mediator
Mediators should be capable of:
- Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
- Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
- Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
Strategist
Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Other work activities related to Child, family, and school social workers
- Interviewing clients individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems for determining what services are required to meet their needs.
- Counseling individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child caring, or medical caring.
- Maintaining case history records and preparing reports.
- Counseling students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical impairment indicating a need for assistance, diagnosing students’ problems and arranging for needed services.
- Consulting with parents, teachers, and other school personnel for determining causes of problems, such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implementing solutions.
- Counseling parents with child rearing problems, interviewing the child and family for determining whether further action is required.
- Developing and reviewing service plans in consultation with clients and performing following ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
