Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
- Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Other work activities related to Occupational health and safety technicians
- Maintaining all required environmental records and documentation.
- Supplying, operating, or maintaining personal protective equipment.
- Preparing or calibrating equipment used for collecting or analyzing samples.
- Testing workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to radiation, chemical or biological hazards, or excessive noise.
- Preparing or reviewing specifications or orders for the purchasing of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are available and that items conform to health and safety standards.
- Examining credentials, licenses, or permits for ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.
- Educating the public about health issues or enforcing health legislation for preventing disease, for promoting health, or for helping people in understanding health protection procedures and regulations.
- Reviewing records or reports concerning laboratory results, staffing, floor plans, fire inspections, or sanitation to gathering information for the development or enforcement of safety activities.
