Any mentor is expected to perform well at:
- Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
- Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

- Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs, abilities, and interests.
- Observing and evaluating students’ working for determining progress and making suggestions for improvement.

- Instructing students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Maintaining accurate and thorough student records as required by laws or administrative policies.
- Preparing materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Establishing understandable objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicating those objectives to students.
- Preparing students for further education by encouraging them for exploring learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
