Any administrator should excel at:
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
- Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Other work activities related to Low vision therapists, orientation and mobility specialists, and vision rehabilitation therapists
- Teaching cane skills, including cane using with guides, diagonal techniques, and two point touches.
- Referring clients to services, such as eye caring, health caring, rehabilitation, and counseling, for enhancing visual and life functioning or when conditions exceeds the scope of practice.
- Providing consultation, assistance, or education to groups such as parents and teachers.
- Participating in professional development activities, such as reading literature, continuing education, attending conferences, and collaborating with colleagues.
- Obtaining, distributing, or maintaining low vision devices.
- Designing instructional programs for improving communication, using devices such as slates and styluses, braillers, keyboards, adaptive handwriting devices, audio books, digital books, and optical character readers (ocrs).
- Collaborating with specialists, such as rehabilitation counselors, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists, for providing client solutions.
