Mentor

Any mentor is expected to perform well at:
- Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
- Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to English language and literature teachers, postsecondary
- Teaching writing classes.
- Assisting students who need additional assistance with their coursework outside of class.
- Participating in cultural and literary activities, such as traveling abroad and attending performing arts events.
- Writing original literary pieces.
- Recruiting, training, and supervising department personnel, such as faculty and student writing instructors.
- Conducting staff performance evaluations.
- Teaching classes using online technology.
- Initiating, facilitating, and moderating classroom discussions.
- Evaluating and grading students’ class working, assignments, and papers.
- Preparing course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as poetry, novel structure, and translation and adaptation.
- Maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
