Innovators will usually have four main goals:

• Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
• Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
• Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
• Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.

Any mentor is expected to perform well at:

• Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
• Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
• Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
• Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.

• Conducting researching in a particular field of knowledge and presenting findings in professional journals, books, electronic media, or at professional conferences.
• Writing grant proposals for procuring external researching funding and reviewing others’ grant proposals.
• Reviewing manuscripts for publication in books and professional journals.
• Keeping abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
• Preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as researching methods, urban anthropology, and language and culture.
• Evaluating and grading students’ class working, assignments, and papers.
• Initiating, facilitating, and moderating classroom discussions.
• Supervising undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and researching working.
• Preparing course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Compiling, administering, and grading examinations, or assigning this working to others.
