Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:

  • Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

Other work activities related to Talent directors

  • Reviewing performer information, such as photos, resumes, voice tapes, videos, and union membership, for deciding whom to auditioning for parts.
  • Reading scripts and conferring with producers for determining the types and numbers of performers required for a given production.
  • Selecting performers for roles or submitting lists of suitable performers to producers or directors for final selection.
  • Auditioning and interviewing performers for matching their attributes to specific roles or for increasing the pool of available acting talent.
  • Maintaining talent files that include information such as performers’ specialties, past performances, and availability.
  • Serving as liaisons between directors, actors, and agents.
  • Attending or view productions for maintaining knowledge of available actors.
  • Negotiating contract agreements with performers, with agents, or between performers and agents or production companies.
  • Contacting agents and actors for providing notification of auditioning and performance opportunities and to setting up auditioning times.
