Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Innovator

Archetype 5 Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:

  • Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
  • Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.

Other work activities related to Software developers, applications

  • Conferring with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others for designing system and for obtaining information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Modifying existing software for correcting errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or for improving its performance.
  • Analyzing user needs and software requirements for determining feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Consulting with customers about software system design and maintenance.
  • Coordinating software system installation and monitoring the equipment’s’ functioning for ensuring specifications are met.
  • Designing, developing and modifying software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models for predicting and measuring outcome and consequences of design.
  • Developing and directing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Analyzing information for determining, recommending, and planning computer specifications and layouts, and peripheral equipment modifications.
