Archetype 7 Mediator

Mediators should be capable of:

  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Mentor

Archetype 2 Mentor

Any mentor is expected to perform well at:

  • Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
  • Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.

Other work activities related to Retail salespersons

  • Greeting customers and ascertaining what each customer wants or needs.
  • Opening and closing registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating payment slips, coupons, and vouchers, consolidating the money, and making deposits.
  • Maintaining knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Computing sales prices, total purchases, and receiving and processing cash or credit payment.
  • Maintaining records related to sales.
  • Watching for and recognizing security risks and thefts and know how for preventing or handling these situations.
  • Recommending, selecting, and helping in locating or obtaining merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
  • Answering questions regarding the company and its merchandise.
  • Describing merchandise and explaining using, operation, and caring of merchandise to customers.
  • Ticket, arranging, and display merchandise for promoting sales.
  • Preparing sales slips or sales contracts.
  • Placing special orders or calling other stores for finding desired items.
