Archetype 7 Mediator

Mediators should be capable of:

  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Supervisor

Archetype 10 Supervisor

Any supervisor should excel at:

  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
  • Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
  • Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.

Other work activities related to Respiratory therapists

  • Working as part of a team of physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals to managing patient caring by assisting with medical procedures or related duties.
  • Transporting patients to the hospital or within the hospital.
  • Performing endotracheal intubation for opening airways for patients who are unable of breathing on their own.
  • Monitoring cardiac patients, using electrocardiography devices, such as Holter monitors.
  • Setting up and operating devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental controlling systems, or aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.
  • Providing emergency caring, such as artificial respiration, external cardiac massages, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Determining requirements for treatment, such as types, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians’ orders.
