Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:

  • Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

Other work activities related to Mechanical engineers

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer generated reports.
  • Conferring with engineers or other personnel to implementing operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, or providing technical information.
  • Researching and analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data for evaluating the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Providing feedback to design engineers on customer problems or needs.
  • Overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, or repairing for ensuring that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Conducting researching that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
  • Recommending design modifications for eliminating machine or system malfunctions.
