Great artisans are usually capable of:
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
- Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

- Attaching identifying tags to containers or marking them with identifying information.
- Reading working orders or receiving oral instructions for determining working assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Recording numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or working tickets.
- Moving freight, stocks, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
- Sorting cargo before loading and unloading.
- Packing containers and repacking damaged containers.
- Carrying needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and returning them after using.
- Installing protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, for preventing shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Maintaining equipment storage areas for ensuring that inventory is protected.
- Attaching slings, hooks, or other devices for lifting cargo and guiding loads.
- Adjusting controls for guiding, positioning, or moving equipment, such as cranes, booms, or cameras.
