- Declining excessive risks.
- Writing to field representatives, medical personnel, or others for obtaining further information, quote rates, or explaining company underwriting policies.
- Evaluating possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance.
- Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard and specifying applicable endorsements or applying rating for ensuring safe, profitable distribution of risks, using reference materials.
- Reviewing company records for determining amount of insurance in force on single risk or group of closely related risks.
- Authorizing reinsurance of policy when risk is high.
- Examining documents for determining degree of risk from factors such as applicant health, financial standing and value, and conditions of property.
