Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Other work activities related to Gas plant operators
- Monitoring transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products for ensuring that safety guidelines are followed.
- Monitoring equipment functioning, observing temperature, levels, and flow gauges, and performing regular unit checks for ensuring that all equipment is operating as it should.
- Controlling operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment for liquefying, compressing, or regasifying natural gas.
- Starting and shutting down plants equipment.
- Recording, reviewing, and compiling operations records, testing results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, concentrations, and flows.
- Adjusting temperature, pressure, vacuum, levels, flow rates, or the transferal of gas for maintaining all processes at their required levels or correcting problems.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing equipment, using hand tools, or requesting that repairing and maintenance working be performed.
- Collaborating with other operators for solving unit problems.
