Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.
Other work activities related to Earth drillers, except oil and gas
- Regulating air pressure, rotary speed, and downward pressure, according to the types of rock or concrete being drilled.
- Verifying depths and alignments of boring positions.
- Monitoring drilling operations, checking gauges and listening to equipment for assessing drilling conditions and for determining the need for adjusting drilling or altering equipment.
- Starting, stopping, and controlling drilling speed of machines and insertion of casings into holes.
- Selecting the appropriate drills for the job, using knowledge of stone or soil conditions.
- Operating controls for stabilizing machines and for positioning and aligning drills.
- Selecting and attaching drilling bits and drilling rods, adding more rods as hole depths increasing, and changing the drill bits as needed.
- Drilling or boring holes in rock for blasting, grouting, anchoring, or building foundations.
- Operating machines for flushing earth cuttings or for blowing dust from holes.
- Driving or guiding truck mounted equipment into their positions, leveling and stabilize rigs, and extending telescoping derricks.
