Archetype 1 Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Mediator

Archetype 7 Mediator

Mediators should be capable of:

  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Other work activities related to Correctional officers and jailers

  • Conducting head counts for ensuring that no prisoner is absent.
  • Monitoring conducting of prisoners in housing unit, or during working or recreational activities, according to established policies, regulations, and procedures, for preventing escape or violence.
  • Inspecting conditions of locks, window bars, grills, doors, and gates at correctional facilities for ensuring security and preventing escapes.
  • Recording information, such as prisoner identification, charges, and incidences of inmate disturbance, and keep daily logs of prisoner activities.
  • Searching prisoners and vehicles and conducting shakedowns of cells for valuables and contraband, such as weapons or drugs.
  • Processing or booking convicted individuals into prison.
  • Participating in required job training.
  • Guarding facility entrances for screening visitors.
  • Searching for and recapturing escapees.
  • Inspecting mail for the presence of contraband.
  • Taking prisoners into custody and escorting them to locations within and outside of facility, such as visiting room, courtroom, or airport.
