Mentor

Any mentor is expected to perform well at:
- Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
- Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to Chemistry teachers, postsecondary
- Establishing, teaching, and monitoring students’ compliance with safety rules for handling chemicals, equipment, and other hazardous materials.
- Selecting, ordering, and maintaining materials and supplies for teaching and researching, such as textbooks, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.
- Serving on committees or in professional societies.
- Preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and chemical separation.
- Supervising students’ laboratory working.
- Evaluating and grading students’ class working, laboratory performance, assignments, and papers.
- Compiling, administering, and grading examinations, or assigning this working to others.
- Maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Preparing course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to advising and assisting students.
