Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:
- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Other work activities related to Cargo and freight agents
- Tracking delivery progress of shipments.
- Notifying consignees, passengers, or customers of freight or baggage arrival and arranging for delivery.
- Checking import or export documentation for determining cargo contents and using tariff coding system for classifying goods according to fee or tariff group.
- Preparing manifests showing numbers of airplane passengers and baggage, mail, and freight weights, transmitting data to destinations.
- Contacting vendors or claims adjustment departments for resolving shipment problems or contacting servicing depots for arranging any repairs.
- Negotiating and arranging transportation of goods with shipping or freighting companies.
- Advising clients on transportation and payment methods.
- Determining method of shipment and preparing bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
- Estimating freight or postal rates and recording shipment costs and weights.
- Entering shipping information into a computer by hand or by a hand held scanner that reads bar codes on goods.
