Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to Broadcast technicians
- Monitoring and logging the transmitter readings.
- Playing and recording broadcast programs using automation systems.
- Setting up, operating, and maintaining broadcast station computers and networks.
- Installing broadcast equipment, troubleshooting equipment problems, and performing maintenance or minor repairs, using hand tools.
- Making commercial dubs.
- Developing employee working schedules.
- Producing graphics for broadcasts.
- Maintaining programming logs as required by station management and the Federal Communications Commission.
- Controlling audio equipment to regulating the volume and sound quality during radio and television broadcasts.
- Monitoring strength, clarity, and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjusting equipment as necessary for maintaining quality broadcasts.
- Regulating the fidelity, brightness, and contrast of video transmissions, using video console controlling panels.
