Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Analyzer

Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:
- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Other work activities related to Bioinformatics scientists
- Recommending new systems and processes for improving operations.
- Keeping abreast of new biochemistries, instrumentation, or software by reading scientific literature and attending professional conferences.
- Conferring with departments, such as marketing, business development, or operations, for coordinating product development or improvement.
- Collaborating with software developers in the development and modification of commercial bioinformatics software.
- Testing new and updated bioinformatics tools and software.
- Providing statistical and computational tools for biologically based activities, such as genetic analysis, measurement of gene expression, or gene function determination.
- Preparing summary statistics of information regarding human genomes.
- Instructing others in the selection and using of bioinformatics tools.
- Improving user interfaces to bioinformatics software and databases.
