Administrator

Archetype 1 Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Other work activities related to Fabric and apparel patternmakers

  • Testing different patterns by making and fitting a few sampling garments.
  • Drawing details on outlined parts for indicating where the parts are to be joined, as well as the positions of pleats, pockets, buttonholes, and other features, using computers or drafting instruments.
  • Determining the best layout of pattern pieces for minimizing waste of material, and marking fabric accordingly.
  • Creating a master pattern for each size within a range of garment sizes, using charts, drafting instruments, computers, or grading devices.
  • Drawing outlines of pattern parts by adapting or copying existing patterns, or by drafting new patterns.
  • Creating a paper pattern for mass producing a design concept.
  • Positioning and cutting out master or sample patterns, using scissors and knives, or printing out copies of patterns, using computers.
  • Discussing design specifications with designers, and converting their original models of garments into patterns of individual parts which can be laid out on a length of fabric.
