  • Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.

Artisan

Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Other work activities related to Telecommunications equipment installers and repairers, except line installers

  • Noting differences in wire and cable colors so that working can be performed correctly.
  • Testing circuits and components of malfunctioning telecommunications equipment for isolating sources of malfunctions, using testing meters, circuit diagrams, polarity probes, and other hand tools.
  • Testing repaired, newly installed, or updated equipment for ensuring that it functions properly and conforms to specifications, using testing equipment and observation.
  • Driving crew trucks to and from working areas.
  • Inspecting equipment on a regular basis for ensuring proper functioning.
  • Repairing or replacing faulty equipment such as defective and damaged telephones, wires, switching system components, and associated equipment.
  • Removing and remake connections for changing circuit layouts, following working orders or diagrams.
  • Demonstrating equipment to customers and explaining how it is to be used, and responding to any inquiries or complaints.
  • Analyzing testing readings, computer printouts, and trouble reports for determining equipment repairing needs and required repairing methods.
