Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Inspector

Archetype 6 Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:

  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Other work activities related to Brickmasons and blockmasons

  • Constructing corners by fastening in plumb positions a corner pole, or building a corner pyramid of bricks, and filling it in between the corners using a line from corner to corner for guiding each course, or brick layers.
  • Measuring distance from reference points and marking guidelines for laying out working, using plumb bobs and levels.
  • Calculating angles and courses and determining vertical and horizontal alignment of courses.
  • Fastening or fuse brick or other building material to structure with wire clamps, anchoring holes, torch, or cement.
  • Breaking or cutting bricks, tiles, or blocks to different sizes, using trowel edges, hammers, or power saws.
  • Removing excess mortar with trowels and hand tools, and finishing mortar joints with jointing tools, for a sealed, uniform appearance.
  • Interpreting blueprints and drawings for determining specifications and for calculating the materials required.
  • Applying and smooth mortar or other mixture over working surface.
  • Mixing specified amounts of sand, clay, dirt, or mortar powder with water for forming refractory mixtures.
