Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Office machine operators, except computer

  • Reading job orders for determining the types of works to be done, the quantities to be produced, and the materials needed.
  • Operating office machines such as high speed business photocopiers, readers, scanners, addressing machines, stencil cutting machines, microfilm readers or printers, folding and inserting machines, bursters, and binder machines.
  • Placing original copies in loading trays, loading originals into loading rolls, or positioning the originals on tables beneath camera lenses.
  • Computing prices for services and receiving payment, or providing supervisors with billing information.
  • Sorting, assembling, and proof completed working.
  • Setting up and adjusting machines, regulating factors such as speed, ink flow, focus, and number of copies.
  • Monitoring machine operation, and making adjustments as necessary for ensuring proper operation.
  • Loading machines with materials such as blank paper or film.
  • Maintaining stocks of supplies, and requisitioning any needed items.
  • Filing and storing completed documents.
