Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
- Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Other work activities related to Technical directors/managers
- Directing technical aspects of newscasts and other productions, checking and switching between video sources and taking responsibility for the on air product, including camera shots and graphics.
- Testing equipment for ensuring proper operation.
- Monitoring broadcasts for ensuring that programs conform to station or network policies and regulations.
- Observing pictures through monitors and directing camera and video staff concerning shading and composition.
- Acting as liaisons between engineering and production departments.
- Supervising and assigning duties to workers engaged in technical controlling and production of radio and television programs.
- Scheduling using of studio and editing facilities for producers and engineering and maintenance staff.
- Conferring with operations directors for formulating and maintaining fair and attainable technical policies for programs.
- Operating equipment for producing programs or broadcast live programs from remote locations.
