- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
- Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
Other work activities related to Middle school teachers, except special and career/technical education
- Assisting students who need additional assistance, such as by tutoring and preparing and implementing remedial programs.
- Meeting or corresponding with parents or guardians for discussing children’s progress and for determining priorities and resource needs.
- Coordinating and supervising extracurricular activities, such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
- Establishing and enforcing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
- Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Instructing through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects, such as English, mathematics, or social studies.
- Preparing, administering, and grading tests and assignments for evaluating students’ progress.
- Establishing understandable objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicating these objectives to students.
