Archetype 2 Mentor

Any mentor is expected to perform well at:

  • Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Convincing others to accept and idea or to otherwise change their minds or actions in accordance to the companies objectives.
  • Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.

Mediator

Archetype 7 Mediator

Mediators should be capable of:

  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Other work activities related to Vocational education teachers, postsecondary

  • Acquiring, maintaining, and repairing laboratory equipment and tools.
  • Supervising and monitoring students’ using of tools and equipment.
  • Observing and evaluating students’ working for determining progress, providing feedback, and making suggestions for improvement.
  • Presenting lectures and conducting discussions for increasing students’ knowledge and competence using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides.
  • Administering oral, written, or performance tests for measuring progress and for evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Preparing reports and maintaining records, such as student grades, attendance rolls, and training activity details.
  • Supervising independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory working, or other training.
  • Determining training needs of students or workers.
  • Providing individualized instruction and tutorial or remedial instruction.
  • Conducting on the job training classes or training sessions to teaching and demonstrating principles, techniques, procedures, or methods of designated subjects.
