Great artisans are usually capable of:
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
- Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Analyzer

Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:
- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Other work activities related to Food science technicians
- Maintaining records of testing results or other documents as required by state or other governing agencies.
- Performing regular maintenance of laboratory equipment by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizing.
- Training newly hired laboratory personnel.
- Preparing or incubate slides with cell cultures.
- Conducting standardized tests on food, beverages, additives, or preservatives for ensuring compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, texture, or nutrients.
- Providing assistance to food scientists or technologists in researching and development, production technology, or quality controlling.
- Computing moisture or salt content, percentages of ingredients, formulas, or other product factors, using mathematical and chemical procedures.
- Recording or compiling testing results or preparing graphs, charts, or reports.
- Analyzing testing results for classifying products or comparing results with standard tables.
