Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:

- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Other work activities related to Operations research analysts
- Presenting the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users.
- Educating staff in the using of mathematical models.
- Formulating mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.
- Collaborating with others in the organization for ensuring successful implementation of chosen problem solutions.
- Analyzing information obtained from management to conceptualize and define operational problems.
- Performing validation and testing of models for ensuring adequacy and reformulate models as necessary.
- Collaborating with senior managers and decision makers for identifying and solving a variety of problems and for clarifying management objectives.
