Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Wind turbine service technicians

  • Inspecting or repairing fiberglass turbine blades.
  • Troubleshooting or repairing mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions related to variable pitch systems, variable speed controlling systems, converter systems, or related components.
  • Climbing wind turbine towers for inspecting, maintaining, or repairing equipment.
  • Diagnosing problems involving wind turbine generators or controlling systems.
  • Performing routine maintenance on wind turbine equipment, underground transmission systems, wind fields substations, or fiber optic sensing and controlling systems.
  • Testing electrical components of wind systems with devices such as voltage testers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, infrared testers, or fiber optic equipment.
  • Testing structures, controls, or mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems, according to testing plans or in coordination with engineers.
  • Assisting in assembly of individual wind generators or construction of wind farms.
  • Collecting turbine data for testing or researching and analysis.
