Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to Web administrators
- Backing up or modifying applications and related data for providing for disaster recovery.
- Determining sources of Web page or server problems, and taking action for correcting such problems.
- Reviewing or updating Web page content or links in a timely manner, using appropriate tools.
- Monitoring systems for intrusions or denial of service attacks, and reporting security breaches to appropriate personnel.
- Implementing Web site security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption.
- Administering internet or intranet infrastructure, including Web, file, and mail servers.
- Collaborating with development teams for discussing, analyzing, or resolving usability issues.
- Testing backup or recovery plans regularly and resolving any problems.
- Monitoring Web developments through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, or groups.
- Implementing updates, upgrades, and patches in a timely manner to limit loss of service.
