Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:
- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:
- Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Other work activities related to Water resource specialists
- Supervising teams of workers capturing water from wells and rivers.
- Reviewing or evaluating designs for water detention facilities, storm drains, flood controlling facilities, or other hydraulic structures.
- Negotiating for water rights with communities or water facilities to meet water supplying demands.
- Performing hydrologic, hydraulic, or water quality modeling.
- Compiling water resource data, using geographic information systems (GIS) or global positioning systems (GPS) software.
- Compiling and maintaining documentation on the health of a body of water.
- Writing proposals, project reports, informational brochures, or other documents on wastewater purification, water supplies and demands, or other water resource subjects.
- Recommending new or revised policies, procedures, or regulations for supporting water resource or conservation goals.
- Providing technical expertise to assisting communities in the development or implementation of storm water monitoring or other water programs.
