Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Supervisor

Any supervisor should excel at:
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
- Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
- Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.
Other work activities related to Subway and streetcar operators
- Operating controls for opening and closing transit vehicle doors.
- Driving and controlling rail guided public transportation, such as subways, elevated trains, and electric powered streetcars, trams, or trolleys, for transporting passengers.
- Monitoring lights indicating obstructions or other trains ahead and watching for car and truck traffic at crossings, staying alert to potential hazards.
- Directing emergency evacuation procedures.
- Regulating vehicle speeds and the time spent at each stop for maintaining schedules.
- Reporting delays, mechanical problems, and emergencies to supervisors or dispatchers, using radios.
- Making announcements to passengers, such as notifications of upcoming stops or scheduling delays.
- Completing reports, including shift summaries and incident or accident reports.
- Greeting passengers, providing information, and answering questions concerning fares, schedules, transfers, and routings.
- Attending meetings on driver and passenger safety to learning ways in which job performance might be affected.
