Archetype 7 Mediator

Mediators should be capable of:

  • Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving customers in restaurants and stores, and receiving clients or guests.
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Inspector

Archetype 6 Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:

  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Other work activities related to Respiratory therapy technicians

  • Collecting and analyzing arterial blood gas samples.
  • Using ventilators or various oxygen devices or aerosol and breathing treatments in the provision of respiratory therapy.
  • Working with patients in areas such as the emergency rooms, neonatal or pediatric intensive caring, or surgical intensive caring, treating conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, cystic fibrosis, or pneumonia.
  • Reading and evaluating physicians’ orders and patients’ chart information for determining patients’ conditions and treatment protocols.
  • Keeping records of patients’ therapy, completing all necessary forms.
  • Setting equipment controls to regulating the flow of oxygen, gases, mists, or aerosols.
  • Providing respiratory caring involving the application of well defined therapeutic techniques under the supervision of a respiratory therapist and a physician.
  • Assessing patients’ response for treatments and modifying treatments according to protocol if necessary.
