Great artisans are usually capable of:
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
- Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

- Examining or testing operation of parts or systems for ensuring completeness of repairs.
- Repairing plumbing or propane gas lines, using caulking compounds and plastic or copper pipe.
- Inspecting recreational vehicles for diagnosing problems and performing necessary adjustment, repairing, or overhauling.
- Locating and repairing frayed wiring, broken connections, or incorrect wiring, using ohmmeters, soldering irons, tape, or hand tools.
- Conferring with customers, reading working orders, or examining vehicles needing repairing for determining the nature and extent of damage.
- Listing parts needed, estimating costs, and planning working procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, or diagrams.
- Connecting electrical systems to outside power sources and activating switches for testing the operation of appliances or light fixtures.
- Connecting water hoses to inlet pipes of plumbing systems and testing operation of toilets or sinks.
- Removing damaged exterior panels and repairing and replacing structural frame members.
