Inspectors should be great at:

  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Analyzer

Archetype 3 Analyzer

Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:

  • Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

Other work activities related to Proofreaders and copy markers

  • Consulting with authors and editors regarding manuscript changes and suggestions.
  • Archive documents, conducting researching, and reading copy, using the internet and various computer programs.
  • Writing original content such as headlines, cutlines, captions, and front covers copy.
  • Typesetting and measuring dimensions, spacing, and positioning of page elements, such as copy and illustrations, for verifying conformance to specifications, using printer’s ruler or layout software.
  • Correcting or recording omissions, errors, or inconsistencies found.
  • Marking texts for indicating and correcting any errors in typing, arrangement, grammar, punctuation, or spelling, using standard printers’ marks.
  • Reading corrected copies or proofs for ensuring that all corrections have been made.
  • Comparing the information or figures on one document against the same data on other documents, or with and original copy, for detecting errors.
  • Consulting reference books or securing the aid of readers for checking references with rules of grammar and composition.
