Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Administrator

Archetype 1 Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Other work activities related to Parts salespersons

  • Assisting customers, such as responding to customer complaints and updating them about back ordered parts.
  • Locating and labelling parts and maintaining inventory of stocks.
  • Picking up and delivering parts.
  • Maintaining and cleaning working and inventory areas.
  • Managing shipments by researching shipping methods or costs and tracking packages.
  • Reading catalogs, microfiche viewers, or computer displays for determining replacement part stocks numbers and prices.
  • Determining replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers’ descriptions of malfunctions.
  • Receiving and filling telephone orders for parts.
  • Preparing sales slips or sales contracts.
  • Receiving payment or obtaining credit authorization.
  • Advising customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
  • Examining returned parts for defects, and exchanging defective parts or refunding money.
  • Marking and storing parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
