Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Outdoor power equipment and other small engine mechanics

  • Repairing and maintaining gasoline engines used to power equipment such as portable saws, lawn mowers, generators, and compressors.
  • Adjusting points, valves, carburetors, distributors, and spark plug gaps, using feeler gauges.
  • Reassembling engines after repairing or maintenance working is completed.
  • Recording repairs made, time spent, and parts used.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling parts, honing cylinders, and tuning ignition systems.
  • Obtaining problem descriptions from customers, and preparing cost estimates for repairs.
  • Testing and inspecting engines for determining malfunctions, for locating missing and broken parts, and for verifying repairs, using diagnostic instruments.
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts such as magnetos, water pumps, gears, pistons, and carburetors, using hand tools.
  • Showing customers how for maintaining equipment.
  • Dismantling engines, using hand tools, and examining parts for defects.
  • Replacing motors.
