Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Artisan

Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Other work activities related to Motorcycle mechanics

  • Mounting, balancing, changing, or checking conditions or pressure of tires.
  • Reassembling frames and reinstall engines after repairs.
  • Hammering out dents and bends in frames and welding tears and breaks.
  • Repairing or adjusting motorcycle subassemblies, such as forks, transmissions, brakes, or driving chains, according to specifications.
  • Replacing defective parts, using hand tools, arbor presses, flexible power presses, or power tools.
  • Connecting testing panels to engines and measuring the generator output, ignition timing, or other engine performance indicators.
  • Listening to engines, examining vehicle frames, or conferring with customers for determining nature and extent of malfunction or damage.
  • Reassembling and testing subassembly units.
  • Dismantling engines and repairing or replacing defective parts, such as magnetos, carburetors, or generators.
  • Removing cylinder heads and grind valves for scraping off carbon and replacing defective valves, pistons, cylinders, or rings, using hand and power tools.
