Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.
Supervisor

Any supervisor should excel at:
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
- Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
- Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.
Other work activities related to Mine shuttle car operators
- Controlling conveyors running the entire length of shuttle cars to distributing loads as loading progresses.
- Driving loaded shuttle cars to ramps and moving controls to discharge loads into mine cars or onto conveyors.
- Cleaning, fuel, and service equipment, and repairing and replacing parts as necessary.
- Moving mine cars into their positions for loading and unloading, using crow bars inserted under the car wheels for positioning cars under loading spouts.
- Guiding and stopping cars by switching, applying brakes, or placing scotches, or wooden wedges, between wheels and rails.
- Pushing or riding cars down slopes, or hook cars to cables and controlling cable drum brakes, to ease cars down inclines.
- Observing hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines.
- Directing other workers for moving stakes, placing blocks, positioning anchors or cables, or moving materials.
- Monitoring loading processes for ensuring that materials are loaded according to specifications.
- Measuring, weighing, or verifying levels of rock, gravel, or other excavated material for preventing equipment overloads.
