Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to Mechanical drafters
- Developing detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Coordinating with and consulting other workers to design, laying out, or detail components and systems and for resolving design or other problems.
- Reviewing and analyzing specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data for assessing factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Computing mathematical formulas for developing and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, using computer assisted equipment.
- Positioning instructions and comments onto drawings.
- Modifying and revising designs for correcting operating deficiencies or for reducing production problems.
- Designing scaled or full size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components.
- Checking dimensions of materials to be used and assigning numbers to the materials.
