Archetype 9 Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Mates (ship, boat, and barge)

  • Steering vessels, using navigational devices, such as compasses or sextants, or navigational aids, such as lighthouses or buoys.
  • Standing watches on vessels during specified periods while vessels are under way.
  • Determining geographical positions of ships, using lorans, azimuths of celestial bodies, or computers, and using this information for determining the course and speed of a ship.
  • Assuming command of vessels in the event of ships’ masters becoming incapacitated.
  • Inspecting equipment, such as cargo handling gear, lifesaving equipment, visual signaling equipment, or fishing, towing, or dredging gear, for detecting problems.
  • Arranging for ships to be stocked, fueled, or repaired.
  • Observing loading or unloading of cargo or equipment for ensuring that handling and storage are performed according to specifications.
  • Supervising crew members in the repairing or replacement of defective gear or equipment.
  • Supervising crews in cleaning or maintaining decks, superstructures, or bridges.
  • Observing water from ships’ mastheads to advising on navigational direction.
