Archetype 3 Analyzer

Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:

  • Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.

Inspector

Archetype 6 Inspector

Inspectors should be great at:

  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Other work activities related to Materials engineers

  • Analyzing product failure data and laboratory testing results for determining causes of problems and developing solutions.
  • Monitoring material performance and evaluating material deterioration.
  • Supervising the working of technologists, technicians, and other engineers and scientists.
  • Designing and directing the testing or controlling of processing procedures.
  • Evaluating technical specifications and economic factors relating to procedures or product design objectives.
  • Conducting or supervising tests on raw materials or finished products for ensuring their quality.
  • Performing managerial functions, such as preparing proposals and budgets, analyzing labor costs, and writing reports.
  • Solving problems in a number of engineering fields, such as mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil, nuclear, and aerospace.
  • Planning and evaluating new projects, consulting with other engineers and corporate executives as necessary.
