Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Controller

Archetype 4 Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
  • Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
  • Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.

Other work activities related to Maintenance workers, machinery

  • Reassembling machines after the completion of repairing or maintenance working.
  • Starting machines and observing mechanical operation for determining efficiency and for detecting problems.
  • Inspecting or testing damaged machine parts, and marking defective areas or advising supervisors of repairing needs.
  • Lubricating or applying adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Installing, replacing, or changing machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Dismantling machines and removing parts for repairing, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Recording production, repairing, and machine maintenance information.
  • Reading working orders and specifications for determining machines and equipment requiring repairing or maintenance.
  • Setting up and operating machines, and adjusting controls to regulating operations.
  • Collaborating with other workers for repairing or moving machines, machine parts, or equipment.
