Great artisans are usually capable of:

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Technician

Archetype 11 Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:

  • Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.

Other work activities related to Industrial machinery mechanics

  • Disassembling machinery or equipment for removing parts and making repairs.
  • Repairing or replacing broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Repairing or maintaining the operating conditions of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
  • Examining parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Reassembling equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Observing and testing the operation of machinery or equipment for diagnosing malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, or adjusting parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Analyzing testing results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators for diagnosing equipment problems.
  • Recording repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Studying blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals for determining the adequate installation or operation of machinery.
  • Recording parts or materials used and order or requisitioning new parts or materials as necessary.
