Artisan

Great artisans are usually capable of:
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
- Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
- Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Technician

Technicians will often be asked these tasks:
- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
Other work activities related to Hoist and winch operators
- Moving levers, pedals, and throttles for stopping, starting, and regulating speeds of hoist or winch drums in response to hand, bell, buzzer, telephone, loud speaker, or whistle signals, or by observing dial indicators or cable marks.
- Starting engines of hoists or winches and using levers and pedals to wind or unwind cable on drums.
- Observing equipment gauges and indicators and hand signals of other workers for verifying loading positions or depths.
- Operating compressed air, diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam driven hoists or winches for controlling movement of cableways, cages, derricks, draglines, loaders, railcars, or skips.
- Moving or repositioning hoists, winches, loads and materials, manually or using equipment and machines such as trucks, cars, and hand trucks.
- Signaling and assisting other workers loading or unloading materials.
- Attaching, fastening, and disconnect cables or lines to loads, materials, and equipment, using hand tools.
- Applying hand or foot brakes and moving levers for locking hoists or winches.
