Analyzer

Analyzers will often perform the following tasks:
- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Assessing the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Innovator

Innovators will usually have four main goals:
- Developing or creating new applications, relationships, systems, or products.
- Providing creative ideas or artistic contributions.
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Benchmarking, experimenting and testing novel approaches to solving problems.
Other work activities related to Geographic information systems technicians
- Recommending procedures or equipment or software upgrades for increasing data accessibility or ease of using.
- Providing technical assistance to users or clients regarding the maintenance, development, or operation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, equipment, or applications.
- Reading current literature, talk with colleagues, continue education, or participating in professional organizations or conferences for keeping abreast of developments in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, equipment, or systems.
- Conferring with users for analyzing, configuring, or troubleshooting applications.
- Selecting cartographic elements needed for effective presentation of information.
- Transferring or rescaling information from original photographs onto maps or other photographs.
- Reviewing existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation.
- Interpreting aerial or ortho photographs.
