Archetype 1 Administrator

Any administrator should excel at:

  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates, as well as communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization, and getting them to work together to accomplish tasks by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

Strategist

Archetype 8 Strategist

Most strategists should excel at:

  • Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.

Other work activities related to Fish and game wardens

  • Compiling and presenting evidence for court actions.
  • Investigating hunting accidents or reports of fish or game law violations.
  • Issuing warnings or citations and file reports as necessary.
  • Serving warrants and making arrests.
  • Participating in search and rescuing operations.
  • Seizing equipment used in fish and game law violations.
  • Patrolling assigned areas by car, boat, airplane, horse, or on foot for enforcing game, fish, or boating laws or to managing wildlife programs, lakes, or land.
  • Protecting and preserving native wildlife, plants, or ecosystems.
  • Promoting or providing hunter or trapper safety training.
  • Providing assistance to other local law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Addressing schools, civic groups, sporting clubs, or the media for disseminating information concerning wildlife conservation and regulations.
  • Recommending revisions in hunting and trapping regulations or in animal management programs so that wildlife balances or habitats can be maintained.
