  • Performing precise and skillful manipulation of small objects.
  • Being active and proactive in regards to physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Supervisor

Any supervisor should excel at:

  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
  • Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
  • Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.

Other work activities related to Extruding and forming machine setters, operators, and tenders, synthetic and glass fibers

  • Removing excess, entangled, or completed filaments from machines, using hand tools.
  • Setting up, operating, or tending machines for extruding and forming filaments from synthetic materials such as rayon, fiberglass, or liquid polymers.
  • Loading materials into extruding and forming machines, using hand tools, and adjusting loading mechanisms to setting loading rates.
  • Starting metering pumps and observing operation of machines and equipment for ensuring continuous flow of filaments extruded through spinnerets and for detecting processing defects.
  • Moving controls for activating and adjusting extruding and forming machines.
  • Recording details of machine malfunctions.
  • Notifying other workers of defects, and directing them for adjusting extruding and forming machines.
  • Pressing buttons for stopping machines when processes are completed or when malfunctions are detected.
  • Observing the flow across the finishing rollers, and turning valves for adjusting the flow to specifications.
