Any supervisor should excel at:
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment.
- Detecting or assessing problems whether real or potential.
- Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money.
Controller

Controllers are expected to be good at:
- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate manufacturing systems.
- Working with hand operated industrial machines and power tools.
- Adjusting knobs, levers, and physical or touch sensitive buttons in industrial devices.
- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft.
Other work activities related to Biomass plant technicians
- Measuring and monitoring raw biomass feedstock, including wood, waste, or refuse materials.
- Operating valves, pumps, engines, or generators for controlling and adjusting production of biofuels or biomass fueled power.
- Performing routine maintenance or making minor repairs to mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment in biomass plants.
- Assessing quality of biomass feedstock.
- Calculating, measuring, loading, or mixing biomass feedstock for power generation.
- Calibrating liquid flow devices or meters, including fuel, chemical, and water meters.
- Inspecting biomass power plants or processing equipment, recording or reporting damage and mechanical problems.
- Operating biomass fuel burning boiler or biomass fuel gasification system equipment in accordance with specifications or instructions.
- Operating equipment for heating biomass, using knowledge of controls, combustion, and firing mechanisms.
- Operating equipment for starting, stopping, or regulating biomass fueled generators, generator units, boilers, engines, or auxiliary systems.
